Behind The Scenes with Royal

There’s nothing I love more than than being lost in a shoot with a great band. The buzz of creativity, and energy is infectious. No matter how much I plan ahead, I always leave room to let things happen in the moment, as that’s where the magic is. This shoot was no exception! Royal are one of our most popular bands, and we decided it was time to update their promo videos - and the results are amazing!

We worked fast and shot a lot of videos and photos, in just a few hours at Dialog Studios. We wanted to really capture the energy and showmanship of Royal, so we decided to keep the shots as dynamic as possible whilst Sean (frontman) and the guys did their thing in front of the camera.

Royal have a unique energy that really comes across in their live shows. Wherever they go, the feedback is always the same mix of excitement and joy! I shot these videos on the Sony FX3 with a 25mm DZOFILM Vespid lens, handheld so that I could move quickly with the band and catch their movements. Can’t wait to shoot more videos with these guys, there’s never a dull moment!
